The Story
She got her name after Sue Bird.
Sue Bird is considered to be one of the best players in WNBA history. In spite of undergoing a reconstructive knee surgery her freshman year in college plus three other knee surgeries during her record-breaking professional career, she managed to leave a mark that reaches far beyond the court.
Her resume is actually insane: Bird has won
4 WNBA Championships with the Seattle Storm (first player in WNBA history to win a championship in three different decades),
5 Olympic gold medals (one of only two Olympic basketball players—male or female—ever to win five gold medals, with the other player being her US Olympic teammate Diana Taurasi),
2 NCAA Championships with UConn,
4 FIBA World Cups, and
5 Euro-League Championships.
In addition to impressive on-court presence, she served as Vice President of the WNBA players union, is a internationally celebrated activist, an angel investor and a co-founder of a sports-focused media and commerce company that unapologetically puts the focus on female athletes - Togethxr.
